You spend everyday with you fur-baby and if you work from home, you might be the one having separation anxiety whenever you’re away! If you’re anything like us, it just seems wrong to not include them at your wedding in some way. This can be a fun and memorable experience, but it will require some planning and preparation to ensure everything goes smoothly. Here are a few ideas on how to include your dog in your wedding:

1. Confirm with your wedding venue that dogs are permitted

Before you begin planning anything, you must make sure your venue allows dogs. It is common for some venues to have restrictions regarding pets, so check with them first. If having your puppy at your wedding is a must, this could be a very important matter when choosing a venue!

2. Make sure your pup is comfortable

You have to take into account how your dog will feel around large groups of people. Not all dogs are comfortable in new environments with a lot of noise. You know your dog best and even though you want to share your special day with them, the best option for your pet may be to include them in other ways. Options for this could be including them in your engagement shoot, limiting their wedding day time, or just having a picture of them at your reception. It's also a good idea to have a backup plan in case your dog gets overwhelmed or misbehaves during the ceremony.

3. Assign a Doggy-Sitter

As much as you love your pet, your wedding day is about you. It is a great idea to choose someone to be responsible for your dog during the day. This person is preferably someone who your dog is familiar with and that you can trust, so you will have peace of mind. This person can walk your dog down the aisle, take care of them during the ceremony, and ensure they are safe and happy throughout the event.

5. Include your dog in the ceremony

This will be sure to put a smile on all your guests faces! Have your dog walk down the aisle with you or be the ring bearer. Grab a custom harness or DIY a secure ring holder into their wedding-day wear. Make sure your dog is comfortable in the spotlight and is trained to behave in public!
