Dresses 101: Buying or Renting?

Back List

The big day is coming! And we all know that choosing the right dress could be stressful and painful, especially when you are not sure whether to buy it or rent it. Don’t worry! From the style options to the pricing, I’m here to help you analyze the pros and cons.

Renting or Buying: Styles, Colors and Sizes

There are tons and tons of bridesmaid/wedding dress shops that offer renting services. However, if you look into that, there’s one big thing you will notice: The style availability for renting are limited. Here’s the reason: To start rental services, the wedding shops first need to have inventories to display. They also need to clean it and maintain it every time when someone rents it. Moreover, some of them will even need to cover the shipping back and forth. Therefore, they will limit the styles, sizes, and colors of the dresses to cut down the costs. That’s why you will see the availability of renting the dresses is so limited to the online wedding shops.

On the other hand, buying dresses are preferable for a wedding shop because it causes less problem for them. Like what I stated above, they don’t need to deep-clean your returned dresses and they don’t need to cover your return shipping label...etc.

You will see more sizes, colors, and style availability when you choose to buy it from them.

Renting or Buying: Pricing

If you are just looking for a low-pricing dress in a short term, then renting is definitely the best option for you. Although most of the companies offer a cheap price for you to rent a dress below $100, you need to be careful with the dress you rent. For example, if there’s any damage on the dress, or you shipped it back late, be prepared that you will be charged for a price that will increase your cost anywhere to the full retail price of the dress.

Most of the website offers bridesmaid dresses starting from $150, whereas AFAROSE has a lot in the range of $80 to $150. In this case, the price differences between renting and buying aren’t a lot. Since you will have to return your dress if you are renting it. Why not just buying one to own it if the price is almost the same?

Renting or Buying: Altering

Most of the rental shops provide many sizes of rental dresses. However, there is still a chance to receive a dress that doesn’t quite fit your body. Dresses in a general size usually fit a wide range, for example, height. Although you might still be able to put the dress on, it’s not a perfect fit.

In this case, you can solve it with Afarose! Afarose offers free customized-sizing service with any dresses you purchased with them. You are in between sizes? No problem! Afarose provides custom size by letting you input your bust, waist, hips and your height measurements. What makes it even sweeter? IT’S ALL FREE! No altering No drama.

After you have received the dress. You, of course, can do whatever you want to do with the dress because you own the dress!

Conclusion:

Buying seems to be a better option for you. You will have more options in styles, colors, sizes and will be able to customize the size. You are able to put it in your display closet and wear it again if you want. So, why bother to rent it when you are able to buy it?
