What is a bridal shower? When should you host this? Today’s blog, we will go over what you should know.
Our definition of a bridal shower
A quick summary of it is that it’s a celebration event for the bride-to-be’s upcoming carriage. It is designed to shower the bride with good wishes and gifts! Also, rest assured, the bridal theme can be anything! However, traditionally, the event is hosted during day time and ladies-only.
Who is the host?
It can be anyone! Traditionally, the celebration is hosted by the bride’s mother or relatives, the in-laws, maid of honor, or the entire wedding party. In addition, it’s more common for the maid of honor to help with the bridal shower since it would avoid the problem that the bride’s family is taking in the gifts.
Should the bride be involved?
You can assume it’s a “surprise” unless the bride says something!
When to throw a bridal party?
There is no strict rule here. Usually, it is held between 5 months to 2 weeks before the wedding date. It is important to pick a date that words the best for the bride and all her loved ones. Besides setting a date for your bridal party a few months before don’t forget to choose your bridal and bridesmaids dress too! Whom to invite?
Golden rule: Anyone who is invited to the bridal shower should be invited to the wedding. In other words, anyone from the guestlist. We can imagine how awkward it will be if you invited the person to your bridal shower and not your wedding! *yikes Another tip from us to make-up your guestlist is to base from your budget and your preference.
When do you send out invitations?
Ideally, it should be sent out 6 to 5 weeks before the event. You want people that are being invited to clear out any schedules to come to your bridal party! For budget brides out there, we recommend you make e-invitations with Canva. It’s got easy-to-apply templates that you can use that are really chic and pretty. The part we love about it is that you just make the same template, change the guest names, and hit that send button to all your guests.
Where to host a bridal shower?
You can do something really bougie and fancy. However, if you don’t want to spill too much budget on this you can throw your bridal shower at someone’s home/backyard. A local restaurant, and any outdoor places (*We love a picnic theme at the park)! Another tip from us to make it easier for you, is to determine the budget and type of shower first then expand your ideas from there.
Who is paying for it?
Typically, the host will be the one paying for the entire bridal shower. If you have a co-host, you will be sharing the costs for the celebration. A friendly reminder from us is that you don’t ask your guests to share the payment with you! It is very different from the bachelorette party in which everyone pays for their own way.
Let us know if you will be hosting your bridal shower soon and tell us what you'll be most excited for!
