Maybe you've had a professional photoshoot done for family photos or even your engagement session. Smaller sessions like those require a lot less planning than your actual wedding day photography. And let's face it, most of us don't actually know all that goes into it, unless we've done it before, or have been a part of one. If you're new to the scene or just need a refresher, here are a few tips to ensure the photography of your big day is admirably memorable.
1. Create a mood board and shot list.
Have an idea of the vibe, colors, and scenes you want for your wedding day. Create a pinterest board or list for important shots that you want to make sure your photographer captures! Sharing this info with your photographer will keep everyone on the same page.
2. Schedule enough time for each section of the day.
Wedding day time feels like a whole different speed from normal time. Ask your photographer how much time they recommend for each section of the day; getting ready, first look, couple's session, family photos, etc. It's easy to think something will take you 10 minutes when in reality, it requires 30! You don't want to miss any important shots due to a scheduling mishap.

3. Incorporate a First Look Session.
A First Look session is an intimate moment for the bride and groom to share their first sights of each other right before the ceremony, without a hundred other guests. This allows the photographer to capture raw emotions and candid shots without any distractions from the ceremony. If you want to keep it traditional and wait for the aisle, a First Look can also be done with the father of the bride!

4. Schedule the couple's session during best lighting.
Depending on the couple, the bride and groom couple session is arguably the most important one of the day! Try to schedule these during the day's best lighting for the best results. Golden hour, up to an hour after sunset, is a fan favorite for that warm, dream-like tone.

5. Use your veil for unique shots.
Your veil can be used for more than just tradition! Have a bridesmaid gently help hold it up or pull it over the couple for some artistic and dramatic photos.
