How to Measure

Getting accurate measurements is the best way to choose the right standard size or place a custom-size order. Please review the instructions below before measuring.

Important: Custom-size dresses are made according to the measurements you provide and are final sale. Custom sizing can help reduce the need for major alterations, but it does not guarantee a perfect fit. Minor alterations may still be needed depending on your body shape, posture, shoes, undergarments, and personal fit preference.

  • Ask another person to help you measure. We do not recommend measuring yourself.
  • Use a soft measuring tape and measure in inches.
  • Wear the same or similar bra and undergarments you plan to wear with the dress.
  • Stand straight with your feet together and your arms relaxed at your sides.
  • Keep the measuring tape flat against your body. It should be snug, but not tight.
  • Measure over the body, not over bulky clothing.
  • Measure twice to confirm accuracy before placing your order.

Note: For customized floor-length dresses, Afarose will add approximately 2 inches to the hollow-to-floor measurement to allow for heels.

Measurement tolerance: Because each dress is cut, sewn, and finished by hand, a measurement tolerance of approximately 0.5 to 1 inch may apply. This is normal for made-to-order garments and does not mean the item is defective.

  1. Wear the bra you plan to wear with the dress.
  2. Relax your arms naturally at your sides.
  3. Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust.
  4. Keep the tape level across your back and parallel to the floor.

Standard Size vs. Custom Size

Standard Size

Standard-size dresses are made according to the Afarose Size Chart. If your measurements do not match one size exactly, we recommend choosing the size that fits your largest measurement. Alterations may still be needed for the best fit.

Custom Size

Custom-size dresses are made using the measurements you provide. Custom sizing can help reduce the need for major alterations, but it does not guarantee a perfect fit. Minor alterations may still be needed depending on your body shape, posture, shoes, undergarments, and personal fit preference.

Custom-size dresses are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
